In 1993, the House of Kenzo joined the luxury group LVMH. Kenzo Takada then left in 1999 during a memorable party, pay him homage for his 30-year-old career.
Since 2003, the artistic directorship of KENZO Women’s Fashion has been in the hands of the ltalian Antonio Marras.
Antonio Marras has developed a rich, poetic world made of a diversity of influences and a fusion between fashion and other forms of art.
Inspired by craftsmanship, symbolic and cultural objects, Antonio Marras invents a contemporary language, creates clothes that tell stories, for women who love freedom and authenticity and are always questing for originality.
Born in Alghero in 1961, Antonip grew up amongst rolls of fabrics in his father’s shop. This textile environment was such an integral part of his world as a child that he naturally moved into fashion, without studying it. In 1987, it was his passion. He spoke of it with such fervor that a year later, he managed to convince an entrepreneur from Rome to entrust him with designing his ready-to-wear collection.
He made his debut in Havte-Couture in 1996 and went on to design four collections one after the other, giving free range to his imagination. Nothing was too beautiful, too tailored or precious for Antonia.
With Sanstitre in 1998, Antonio Marras started to transpose his concept of Couture to Ready-to-Wear: the collection was exclusively made up of white shirt, pleated, distorted or reinterpreted.
In March 1999, he presented a first Women’s Ready-to-Wear collection under his own label. He then created the Laboratoire line, a real secret chamber of creativity. The line was half-way between Ready-to-Wear and Couture.
Proposed in a limited series, these were clothes with a difference, elaborated from remnants of fabrics that were not mass-produced with unique overlays.
